TRAVEL & ACCOMMODATIONS
158 Fore St
Portland, ME 04101
DETAILS:
Rooms are available from Friday, May 27 to Monday, May 30 with either 1 king bed or 2 queen beds for a special group rate of $199/night.
We kindly ask guests to book hotel rooms or other lodging options as early as possible since this is a popular holiday weekend and rooms will fill up fast. The sooner we can fill up the hotel block, the more rooms we can potentially add if necessary and available.
The last day to book is April 27, 2022
Valet parking is available for $32/night or there is a nearby lot across the street that charges $15 for 24 hours.
We will have shuttles going to our venue from the AC Hotel on both Saturday and Sunday.
This hotel is located right in downtown Portland, close to the water and near many of our favorite restaurants, bars, bakeries and tourist attractions. If you have time, make sure to grab a delicious pastry from Standard Baking Co (be prepared to wait in line) and/or a coffee from the Speckled Ax.
If you don’t want to stay at the AC Hotel, there are plenty of other hotels, Airbnb’s and VRBO’s available in the Portland/Scarborough area. Since the airport is only 10-15 minutes away from our venue, there are several airport hotel options to choose from if you would prefer lodging closer to the venue with free parking.
We highly suggest booking early since this is a holiday weekend and accommodations will fill up fast!
Portland is easily accessible by flight via the Portland International Jetport (PWM). The airport is about 15 minutes from our venue and about 10-15 minutes from downtown Portland.
Alternatively, Logan Airport (BOS) is about 2 hours away but has much more availability for flight options.
Car rentals should be easy to find at the PWM airport but you can also use the car sharing app, Turo, to find other options as well.
Fore Street - one of our favorite restaurants, but make a reservation early if you want to go
Eventide Oyster Co. - our absolute favorite lobster roll in Portland. It’s warm with butter and chives so don’t be shy and just eat it right away… you’ll thank us later. They have limited reservations available two weeks out, but they also offer take-out now and there’s picnic tables for outdoor seating nearby.
Honey Paw - sister restaurant to Eventide that has incredible Southeast Asian food (including a lobster laksa… yes you read that right). Our favorite move is to order lobster rolls from Eventide and a bunch of other items from Honey Paw for take-out and nom on all that delicious food at a nearby picnic table.
High Roller Lobster Co. - giant, delicious lobster rolls right in downtown Portland
Solo Italiano - amazing, upscale Italian restaurant with a great ambiance, but make reservations early!
UNION Restaurant - great restaurant for brunch or dinner in the Press Hotel
Portland Lobster Co. - incredible location right on the water and it’s relatively easy to get a table there even if you have a big group
Duckfat - they have a “Friteshack” if you just want delicious duckfat fries as well a sit-down restaurant with casual bites (paninis, salads, soups, etc.)
Central Provisions - one of our favorite brunch spots in Portland!
OTTO - great pizza place with several locations around the Portland area
Scales - high-end seafood restaurant right on the water. We haven’t been here yet but have heard rave reviews and also tough to get a reservation.
Gilberts Chowder House - award-winning chowdahs (for you New Englanders) in a low-key location
Izakaya Minato - delicious Japanese food
Empire Chinese Kitchen - high-end Chinese cuisine with a great dim sum menu.
Standard Baking Co - best breakfast pastries in Portland but expect a long line. Absolutely worth the wait!
Speckled Ax - great coffee right next to AC Hotel
Tandem Coffee
The Holy Donut - must visit if you are in Portland with several locations around the city
HiFi Donuts
Little Woodfords
There are honestly too many breweries to list here and I would just refer to the many “top breweries in Portland” lists out there, but here are some of the ones we’ve been to and enjoyed:
Bissell Brothers
Lone Pine
Oxbow
Maine Beer Company - located in Freeport, which is 20-25 minutes from Portland but absolutely worth the drive if you have the time
Root Wild Kombucha - both N/A and hard kombuchas on tap! Hillary’s favorite bar probably in the whole world!
Urban Farm Fermentory
Rising Tide
Allagash Brewing - 15-20 minutes outside of the city
Visit the many lighthouses around Portland - Portland Head Light, Springpoint Ledge, Bug Light, etc.
Take the ferry to Peaks Island and walk around or rent a bike!
Visit the Portland Observatory and see the city from above
Go shopping at all of the local retail stores in downtown Portland (Commercial Street has a lot)
Honestly, we usually just spend most of our time eating and drinking when we’re in Portland so just try to cram in as many of the restaurants, breweries and pastry shops that you possibly can! If you don’t have lobster at least 3 times in a weekend, you’ve pretty much failed the Portland experience.
